World Vegan Day

Vegan Life- More Than A Diet Plan

World Vegan Day is November 1st, and we couldn’t be more proud of the fact that LaFlore® formulas are 100% vegan. (Believe us, it’s harder than you might think to find ingredients that use zero animal by-products…)

We decided to make our products cruelty-free and vegan for several reasons:

  • Usually, plant-based products are much easier for the body to absorb and metabolize, and they’re more effective than products containing animal by-products for the use of products for topical application.
  • Products made with animal by-products contribute to climate change that’s a result of animals bred in factory farms.
  • We believe in opposing any practice that causes suffering to any living thing. Period.
  • It’s good for you!

It can be a challenge to secure completely cruelty-free, vegan ingredients for our line of Live Probiotic skincare products. Many ingredients are originally sourced from animals, and unless we’re careful about double-checking how and where these ingredients are cultivated, the quality of our product is compromised, and of course, this just isn’t an option.

An excellent example of one of these ingredients is Hyuralonic Acid.

Hyaluronic acid exists endogenously in all living things. Not only is it found naturally in the skin, but it’s also a component of connective tissue, and it works as a lubricant in the fluids of the eyes. Originally, HA was sourced from the combs of roosters and cow’s eyes (gross, right?), and there are still companies out there who use animal by-products to produce the ingredient.

Fortunately, the demand for ingredients not sourced from animals has changed that for the most part, and now most commercial manufacture of HA is done using a bacterial fermentation process, which also allows for more pureness and consistency.

In our experience, we’ve found the way most companies buy this ingredient is at 1% or 0.1% solution depending on their cost allowance. Then, they dilute it further while developing the formula, so the final product may have only 0.001% of Hyaluronic Acid. Needless to say, this is just not very effective.

Using HA with adequate proportions to ensure results is essential, which is why we buy 99.9% pure HA.

Our moisturizer contains 100 times more potency of Hyuralonic Acid in the final formula than most products out on the market. It delivers an abundance of moisture to the skin, and it helps tighten and provides a plumping effect, fighting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Just as we do, we encourage everyone to have a close look at the ingredients in your skin care products. Making smart choices about what we put in our bodies and on our skin could help create lasting positive change, for ourselves and the rest of the planet.
